Jonny & Vaughn's Wedding: Part 1

One of the greatest privileges of my photography career came last October when my dear friends asked if I would be interested in shooting their wedding. I was honored and blown away that they would allow me to be a part of their special day in this way. Honestly, I was quite nervous, as this was technically my first time shooting a wedding solo. However, I didn't have to fly solo for long. Abbey agreed to come along and second shoot with, and I am grateful that she did. As my first professional wedding photography gig, Abbey's assistance, advice, and direction were invaluable to me. If you are reading this and are in search of a wedding photographer, you should stop reading, follow this link, and book Abbey.

I am excited to share a few shots from Jonny and Vaughn's wedding with you. These photos will come along in several parts, because there are just too many great moments to share in one post. In this first post, I have chosen my favorite shots of the bride and groom. I got to spend a few minutes with each of them individually before they had their first look. Jonny was looking dapper as always, and Vaughn was simply stunning and glowing in her gown.

I recently asked Jonny and Vaughn to share with me about the details of their wedding. Here is what they had to say about their attire:

Vaughn: "It took me 45 minutes to find [the dress]! I just know it’s white and from David’s Bridal, and that I wish I could wear it to go grocery shopping!"

Jonny: The pants were golden, slim-fit Levi’s—they made anybody thicker than a broomstick feel like they’re wearing kid’s spandex (the groomsmen loved them). The blazer was a charcoal Alfani sports jacket and we got it from Macy’s. Actually, we got pretty much everything from Macy’s, except the shoes and the tie! The shirts were white Alfani button-ups, and they all arrived with the pleasant surprise that they didn’t have buttoned cuffs (guess that’s what French cuffs mean, huh?). The tie was mint-teal colored and we got it from one of those reputable websites called TIES.COM or something like that. The shoes were brown leather Vincent Camutos and we literally got them from a website called ONLINESHOES.COM—they had a fall discount plus free shipping! Finally, we got the faux leather suspenders through Etsy from a nice lady in Oregon who shipped them quickly to us.
